How a Jaguar Smart Key Works
Jaguar smart key lets you to lock and unlock the vehicle from a distance. Like all electronic devices, it's powered by a battery.
If your Smart Key battery is beginning to die, your car could indicate this through a decrease in the range of its signals. The message center can also show an alert "SMART-KEY BATTERY FAILS".
The Keylab lets you access your Jaguar without having to search through your purse or pockets. The system uses proximity sensors to detect the Jaguar Smart Key fob, that triggers your XE's automatic opening. Grab any door handle and the vehicle will open and arm itself as you come closer. You can lock your vehicle by pressing a button on the handle of the door or the key fob after you leave the vehicle.
You can also use the Powered Gesture trunk lid feature on your Jaguar XE. This lets you open the trunk with a single gesture, which means you can transport bags, groceries or sporting equipment, without having to reach into your purse or wallet for the key. This is a wonderful feature for people who spend a lot of long hours lugging equipment around Gilbert and are tired of having to use their hands.
Hold the Activity Key against your trunk until you're ready to close it. The hazard light will blink when it's connected.
In contrast to other smart keys, the Jaguar Smart Key's battery doesn't require any replacement. However, you might be able to notice that the range of your key fob starts to shrink, and it may not respond to commands immediately. When this happens, replace the battery as soon as you can.
Panic Alarm

If your car's alarm is sounding at the highest volume, you can swiftly shut it off with your Jaguar Smart Key. This feature, also called the panic button, may appear simple but it could be very useful in certain scenarios.
To activate the panic mode of your vehicle simply press the button on your Smart Key with a headlamp symbol three times within three seconds. The system will turn on the headlamps on the vehicle for a period of 25 seconds. It will also activate the alarm five times to discourage an alleged offender. The button is pressed again to turn off the alarm in case of panic.
You can also make use of the Jaguar Activity Key to lock and unlock your vehicle, without the conventional Smart Key fob inside. Simply slip the Activity Key onto your wrist, shut all doors, switch off your engine, and then hold the Activity Key up against the Jaguar emblem on your tailgate. Your vehicle will then be locked and your danger lights will blink to signal that the vehicle is secured.
If the battery in the Smart Key fob is low you will hear an alert and see "SMART Key Battery Low" displayed in the center of the display. If you have to replace the battery, remove the chrome cover on the key fob, then slide out the CR2032 battery and replace it with a new one that is facing upwards.
Enhanced Security
Jaguar's keyless entry system is offered in a variety of models, which eliminates the need for you to fiddle with your keys when you are getting ready to leave for your Irvine commute. The XE employs a proximity sensor that will detect your key fob when you enter the vehicle. It will unlock and disarm the security system when you reach for the handle. This feature is especially useful for those who lose their keys while on the move or need to juggle several bags, keys, and children in the morning before heading off to work.
You can also secure your Jaguar with its touchscreen. Simply press the lock icon to secure your vehicle and activate the alarm or press it two times to "double-lock" your vehicle. This stops your vehicle from being unlocked or started even if someone breaks the window.
If you want to enhance the security of your Jaguar you can take advantage of the Guardian Mode in the InControl Remote app. This feature will notify you to your smartphone if it detects any suspicious movement of your vehicle. A notification will be sent directly to your smartphone when the vehicle has been tampered with. This allows you to notify the police immediately. This feature can protect your Jaguar from theft, and it's available on most E-PACE I-PACE, F-PACE, and E-PACE vehicles.
Convenience
Jaguar smart keys can lock your vehicle, without you needing to touch the knob. This lets you put your keys in your purse or pocket. It also allows remote start of your vehicle, letting you leave for your Rumson or Colts Neck commute with your car already warm or cool.
This feature is especially useful for outdoor enthusiasts who aren't willing to leave their keys to their car when they go hiking or biking. You can also make use of your smart keys to regulate your car's climate controls and seat settings, which allow you to customize your car before you even step inside your Jaguar.
Although Jaguar's smart keys are more secure than traditional keys, you should still be careful when using them at public places, such as gas stations or restaurants. Since they transmit a low-frequency signal, other people might pick up the signal and unlock or start your vehicle from a distance.
This is easily avoided by only using the remote-start feature when you know you are in a secure location and no person else can see your smart key. You can also activate the alarm from afar, which will sound loud enough to scare away any potential thieves. You can also add an Activity Key to your smartkey to remove the need for a key fob when out mountain biking or hiking.
